The Project Promoter
The Project Promoter - Euromedica
Euromedica is a medical device manufacturer, established in 1998, in Iasi, located in North-Eastern Romania.
We specialize in providing our customers with production subcontracting services, primarily for innovative medical devices.
From its’ founding, our SME company is a 100% family-owned business.
Production takes place in a building with a total area of over 3600 m2, made up of production spaces, storage areas and offices. Teams of highly trained people work in four class 7 and 8 clean-rooms as well as in grey rooms or non-clean-room environments.
We are able to provide a wide range of manufacturing services according to customer needs:
Clean-room or grey-room assembly and manufacturing
In-house injection molding and extrusion
Packaging of products
We work on a business-to-business basis and, as such, Euromedica is certified in compliance with ISO13485:2016 by Nemko (Norway). We aim to support our partners with an uncompromised level of quality assurance while offering a wide range of production solutions.
02
Achievements to date
Euromedica has always had a high focus on organic growth. Euromedica was a partner in the successful Medicare project together with the Norwegian company Memscap AS in the former Norway Grant program ending in 2011, where the grant assisted to extend the Euromedica factory and to establish new customers in northern Europe.

Euromedica’s future plans
Since its’ establishment, Euromedica has grown constantly. Our plans are primarily focused on optimizing production and increasing competitiveness by:
Reducing operational costs by reducing energy use through greening solutions and site facility improvements
Reducing production waste through the upgrade of employed production techniques
Expanding our company by increasing total output capacity
Euromedica has to grow to increase capacity, and future plans are primarily focused on production capacity increase, production optimizing and increasing competitiveness by:
Expanding the company by supporting customers in bringing new products to market with the aim of increasing the volume of business
Reducing operational costs by reducing energy use through greening solutions and site facility improvements
Reducing production waste through the upgrade of production techniques
Company long-term strategy for development
The future development of Euromedica consists of 3 focus areas:
Enhanced sustainable competitiveness through reduction of energy usage, resulting in a decrease of resources required for production, and so lower production costs.
Growth of the company production areas and production equipment in order to improve operating efficiency, and to gain access to a larger customer base.
Increasing the companies’ know-how, especially in modern technologies and automation.
Company short-term strategy for development
Increasing the customer base, especially with high-tech applications
Constantly improving employee capabilities
Enhance production capabilities (through greening of existing building), thus ensuring adequate space for expanded production, as well as improved manufacturing efficiency
The GreenGrowth Project
The Greengrowth project has lined up with Euromedica’s plans. The GREENGROWTH project addresses the following strategic objectives of “Norway Grants – Romania” call “Green Industry Innovation for SME in the private sector”:
Increase value creation and sustainable growth in Romanian business sector
Develop long-term business cooperation between Norway and Romania based on business development and innovation
Relevance and Objectives
The Objectives are defined into the categories:
Development, implementation and investment in innovative environmental friendly technologies
Development of green products, services and technologies
Development and implementation of greener production processes
Activities
Activities implemented under the Greengrowth project:
Under Activity 1 – Regional aid, the following were performed:
1. Heat source installation
Due to the aging and inefficient former means of heating, a new solution was required.
Under this task, 2 new high-efficiency heating solutions were installed, as well as the connected heating infrastructure.
2. Waste reduction
Water is used to cool down plastic processing equipment.
Prior to the Greengrowth project, water was discarded following cooling.
Two water chillers have been installed with the aim of recirculating the cooling water.
3. Polymer recycling process
As plastic is a very common material in single-use medical devices, there is a corresponding high waste due to non-conforming parts and injection networks.
A plastic recycling machine has been installed with the aim of re-using as much as possible of the material.
4. Polymer recycling process
This activity has been responsible for increasing the output capacity of Euromedica. As part of it, the following equipment has been installed:
-2 Arburg injection machines, including their accessories
-air compressor to support the injection machinery
-production Cobot with a Universal Connector Module
-in-house built equipment
5. Packaging tools
Blister packaging machines insure the air-tight packaging that is crucial to single-use medical devices.
As part of the Greengrowth project, such equipment was installed together with a dynamic data printer, capable of printing information in-line with the packaging process.
6. Automation of production processes
The automation of production processes involved the implementation of 3 Cobots and their corresponding Universal Connector Modules.
In this way, work productivity is greatly increased allowing the increased output, using the same resources.
Conclusion
Greengrowth project conclusion
Following the successful implementation of the Greengrowth project, we are now monitoring the implemented equipment with the aim of precisely determining the outcomes.
This section will be updated as the data becomes available.
